In April 2023 I delivered a provocation at Autograph ABP’s Rights in Focus Conference entitled What is Photography doing about the Medical Gaze? I shared some of my archive research and traced the historical links between photography and ableism - asking what artists, researchers, curators and educators can do to deconstruct these histories and bring their practices in-line with work being done to challenge other structures of power, privilege and exclusion.

Portraits of the organist James Taylor by Thomas Damant Eaton, 184?. Eaton Collection, Norfolk Library and Information Service.

All the provocations that afternoon were focused around disability justice in the arts, and it was a real pleasure to be part of such an insightful and thought-provoking programme of events.
